The Kansas City Chiefs have signed former Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker to their practice squad, marking his first NFL contract since a 10-game suspension concluded earlier this year.
The move comes after Tucker served the suspension imposed by the NFL for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. The Chiefs’ decision follows Tucker’s participation in workouts with multiple teams, including the New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, New Orleans Saints, and Miami Dolphins.
Tucker, 36, spent 13 seasons with the Ravens, earning seven Pro Bowl selections, five first-team All-Pro honors, and a Super Bowl championship. He holds the NFL record for the longest successful field goal at 66 yards, set against the Detroit Lions in 2021. During his tenure in Baltimore, he converted 89.1% of his field goal attempts, one of the highest accuracy rates in NFL history. His final season with the Ravens in 2024 saw a decline, with a 73.3% conversion rate on 30 attempts.
Allegations and Suspension
In January 2025, The Baltimore Banner reported that 16 female massage therapists accused Tucker of sexual misconduct and inappropriate behavior during sessions between 2012 and 2016 at eight spas in the Baltimore area. The report claimed Tucker was banned from two spas, though his legal team denied this assertion. Tucker has consistently denied all allegations, stating in a 2025 interview that he "did not act inappropriately at any point before, during, or after a professional bodywork treatment session."
A second wave of allegations emerged in February 2025, with seven additional women accusing Tucker of "acting inappropriately" at luxury spas, including the Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton Residences in Baltimore. The NFL conducted an investigation and imposed a 10-game suspension, which Tucker served without criminal charges being filed. The Ravens released Tucker in May 2025 amid the ongoing controversy.
Chiefs’ Roster Context
The Chiefs’ signing of Tucker follows struggles by their primary kicker, Harrison Butker, who has faced criticism for missed field goals and extra points. Tucker’s addition provides depth at the position, though his practice squad role limits immediate game-day responsibilities. The Chiefs have not indicated whether Tucker will be elevated to the active roster.
Tucker’s return to the NFL comes as he seeks to rebuild his career after the suspension and allegations. His signing reflects the league’s ongoing evaluation of players with disciplinary histories, balancing performance and conduct considerations.
