The costume, modeled after her own left hand, featured long red nails, a thumb ring, and her engagement and wedding bands. Klum was unrecognizable, with only her eyes and mouth visible amid the prosthetic hand, which included dangling ligaments and tendons at the wrist. Blood dripped from her mouth as she stuck out her tongue, and she was assisted by a five-person entourage in blood-stained hazmat suits.
Klum later revealed a second look, pairing the hand costume with gory face prosthetics, a blonde wig, and massive finger-like leg prosthetics. She shared clips of her makeup team applying special effects and props covered in fake blood on Instagram, where she has 12.7 million followers. Her daughter Leni Klum, 22, attended the event dressed as Miss Piggy, wearing a pig nose, ears, long blonde hair, and a pale-pink robe.
The costume took five to six hours to apply, with Klum noting that carrying the heavy prosthetic was the most challenging aspect. She described the process as difficult, stating, "Hands down, the hardest thing is carrying it. It's quite heavy." Klum’s husband, musician Tom Kaulitz, did not attend due to tour commitments. The costume included a tattoo of his name on her ring finger.
Klum first teased the hand costume on social media ahead of the event, which she has hosted annually since 2000. This year’s party marked the 25th anniversary of the event, held at Cathédrale Restaurant at Moxy East Village in New York.
