The National Hockey League (NHL) and Fanatics on Monday unveiled the Hometown Remix program, a league-wide initiative featuring special edition uniforms, apparel, and headwear for all 32 NHL teams. The collection, developed over the past two years, aims to celebrate the unique culture, history, and fan identity of each team’s home city.
The Hometown Remix jerseys debuted on Monday night, with the Florida Panthers, Chicago Blackhawks, and San Jose Sharks wearing their new designs in games. Each team will wear their respective Hometown Remix uniforms multiple times during the remainder of the 2024-25 season. The Toronto Maple Leafs will also wear their new jerseys for five home games, featuring a version of the team’s original logo with cream as the dominant color.
Fanatics has expanded its partnership with the NHL, taking over as the official on-ice uniform and authentic outfitter starting this season. This marks the first time Fanatics has designed and developed a league-wide jersey program for one of its league partners, including the NFL, NBA, and MLB. Previously, Fanatics primarily focused on retail and e-commerce, while other companies manufactured player jerseys for other leagues.
NHL senior executive vice president Brian Jennings stated in a press release that the program builds on the legacy of NHL sweaters by incorporating local identity and storytelling. "Few symbols in sports carry the history, pride, and emotional connection of an NHL sweater," Jennings said. "Hometown Remix builds on that legacy in a fresh and authentic way, celebrating the fans, culture and communities that make each NHL market unique."
The jerseys were designed from scratch, with details such as local landmarks, motifs, and cultural elements incorporated into each team’s design. For example, the Chicago Blackhawks’ jersey features a vivid green base with team-specific graphics. The Maple Leafs’ design includes a cream-colored version of the team’s original logo, a nod to the franchise’s storied history.
Fanatics CEO Andrew Low Ah Kee described the collection as a "giant step forward" in the company’s partnership with the NHL, emphasizing Fanatics’ singular responsibility for the design and execution of the program. The initiative represents a shift in how player uniforms are produced and marketed, blending on-ice performance with off-ice fan engagement.
The Hometown Remix program will be available for purchase through Fanatics’ retail channels, with proceeds supporting local initiatives in each team’s community.
