Nicole Taylor, a member of the country music trio Taylor Red, has died at the age of 35 after a battle with breast cancer, her identical sisters and bandmates Natalie Taylor and Nika Taylor announced on social media Monday.
Taylor died in Nashville, Tennessee, on September 28, according to a statement from her family. A private funeral service was held in her honor.
In a heartfelt video posted to YouTube, Natalie and Nika Taylor shared the news, describing Nicole as their leader and best friend. "Nicole, the oldest of us three sisters, will be greatly missed," they wrote. "She was our leader and our best friend. We are heartbroken, but we know she is in Heaven and will see her again."
The sisters emphasized that Nicole had found peace before her passing. "She’s at peace and no longer suffering, so we’re thankful for that," they stated. Natalie and Nika also expressed their ongoing grief, noting that they are "still processing everything."
Nicole Taylor was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer four years ago, which later progressed to stage 4. Her sisters recalled the moment she received her diagnosis in a public setting, describing the shock and stress of the subsequent treatments, including MRIs, scans, and frequent medical appointments.
Born in Mississippi, Nicole and her identical sisters formed the group Red Roots in 2010 before rebranding as Taylor Red in 2018. The trio gained significant online popularity after their song "Country Money" went viral on social media in 2021.
Natalie and Nika reflected on Nicole’s faith and fearlessness, noting that she was the first among them to dedicate her life to Christ and often spoke up for what she believed in. "She was always the one who would speak on behalf of us," Natalie said. The sisters also expressed gratitude to doctors, nurses, and supporters who aided Nicole during her illness.
The family has requested privacy during this time, and further details about Nicole’s life and legacy are expected to be shared in the coming days.
