During live election coverage on Fox News on Tuesday, President Donald Trump publicly criticized the network and its polling, while also texting into the program to attack a co-host.
Trump switches off Fox News over Jessica Tarlov’s voice Trump announced on Truth Social that he was switching away from Fox News because he could not tolerate the voice of Jessica Tarlov, a liberal co-host of The Five. “I can’t stand Jessica Tarlov’s voice — DUMB AS A ROCK, but it’s the voice that gets me,” he wrote. “Have to go somewhere else until that LOSER is off the air — I’ll be back later!” Trump later followed up with another Truth Social post repeating his criticism of Tarlov.
Trump texts Fox News live to dispute polling and Tarlov’s comments Later in the evening, Trump texted into The Five while the program was on air. Host Greg Gutfeld read Trump’s message aloud, stating: “Greg, tell Tarlov — who is the WORST — gas prices are lower than they were for Biden and Obama and they allowed Iran to have the nuclear bomb. Furthermore, I inherited the worst prices and inflation in history from Sleepy Joe. Prices are heading down FAST! Just like all other prices and so is inflation which is 1.7 percent. And there will be no ‘nuclear bomb.’” Trump’s message also disputed claims about gas prices and inflation, asserting that his administration had inherited poor economic conditions from the previous administration.
Trump criticizes Fox News polling In multiple Truth Social posts, Trump attacked Fox News’ polling, calling it “the worst” and claiming the questions were designed to undermine him. He cited a Fox News poll showing his approval rating at 38%, which aligned with figures from CBS News and CNN. Trump alleged that the polling questions were “a hit job” and dismissed the results as “BULLS***.”
Fox News has experienced a decline in ratings, with Nielsen data indicating a 27% drop in total-day audience in October compared to the previous year. The network projected for the first time that Democrats were likely to win control of the House in its pre-election polling.
Tarlov responds to Trump’s attacks Tarlov, a frequent critic of Trump, has previously accused him of corruption and questioned his cognitive health. In response to Trump’s latest attacks, she tweeted: “Why is this man not busier? There are better things to do.” She has also slammed his handling of the cost of living.
Fox News’ response Fox News has not publicly addressed Trump’s criticisms directly, though the network has continued its election coverage without further mention of his remarks during live programming.
