Dallas Wings teammates Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd confirmed on Fudd’s podcast that they are no longer in a relationship, clarifying their status as teammates and addressing longstanding speculation.
Bueckers and Fudd ended their relationship over a year ago, prior to Fudd being drafted first overall by the Wings in 2025. The revelation came during an appearance on Fudd Around and Find Out, where Bueckers stated: “We’re not together anymore. It’s been, for everybody wondering — even though we don’t have to share — it’s been a while. Like, over a year.”
Fudd added: “We were not together before she got drafted, so all those narratives can go to bed. She was not drafted because she was my girlfriend. She was drafted because she deserves it.” Both players emphasized their professionalism and continued friendship, noting they played an entire college season together at UConn before Bueckers’ 2025 WNBA draft selection.
Context and Background
The pair first met as teammates at the University of Connecticut under head coach Geno Auriemma, winning a national championship together in 2025. Bueckers was selected No. 1 overall by the Wings in the 2025 WNBA Draft, followed by the Wings selecting Fudd with the first overall pick in the same draft. Their relationship status had been a topic of public discussion since their college days, with questions intensifying after they became teammates in the WNBA.
During the podcast, Bueckers reiterated their mutual respect and focus on basketball: “We still support each other. We’re still going to be great teammates. We’re going to be professionals.” Fudd echoed this sentiment, stating they remain “cool” and that their breakup occurred before Fudd’s draft selection.
Professional Dynamics
The announcement follows earlier speculation about how their relationship might impact their roles as teammates. Both players have previously downplayed questions about their personal lives, with team PR and players declining to comment during the season. The confirmation aims to dispel assumptions about favoritism or professional conflicts, with Bueckers emphasizing Fudd’s draft position was based on merit.
The Wings organization has not publicly commented on the matter. The team’s 2025 season is ongoing, with both players listed as active roster members.
