Charlie Woods, son of golf legend Tiger Woods, officially committed to play college golf at Florida State University on Friday, with both of his parents present to celebrate the milestone.
The 17-year-old senior at The Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida, signed his letter of intent during a ceremony, marking the next step in his athletic career. His parents, Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren, were both in attendance, posing together in Florida State colors alongside Charlie’s coach, Toby Harbeck. The Benjamin School’s golf team, the Buccaneers, has remained undefeated this season and is preparing for the Florida state championships later this month.
Tiger Woods’ involvement in Charlie’s development has been notable, with reports indicating he has caddied for his son, provided coaching on his short game, and attended every state championship Charlie has competed in. Elin Nordegren has also been actively involved in Charlie’s golf journey, according to sources familiar with the family’s activities.
Charlie’s commitment to Florida State follows his announcement in February, where he expressed excitement about the opportunity. Tiger Woods publicly congratulated his son, stating, “Congratulations Charlie. I'm so proud of you on entering this next chapter of your life.”
The signing day event comes amid ongoing discussions about Tiger Woods’ personal life, including reports that he is now dating Vanessa Trump, Kai Trump’s mother, and that the two have discussed marriage. Woods has also faced recent legal and health challenges, including a March 2025 arrest for DUI following a car crash, during which police found hydrocodone pills in his possession. Woods has previously disclosed undergoing multiple surgeries, including seven back surgeries and over 20 operations on his leg, and has stated he takes prescription medications.
Florida State University, where Charlie will play, has a Division I golf program with a history of competitive success. The Seminoles’ golf team is coached by Toby Harbeck, who has worked closely with Charlie throughout his high school career. The Benjamin School, Charlie’s current institution, has produced other notable athletes, including Kai Trump, who now plays golf at Miami University.
The Woods family’s presence at the ceremony underscores the significance of the moment, as Charlie transitions from high school to collegiate competition.
