A former New Jersey middle school teacher has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a student while employed at Orchard Valley Middle School in Gloucester County. Ashley A. Fisler, 36, of Washington Township, was taken into custody on Thursday after the now-adult victim reported multiple assaults that allegedly occurred in 2021.
Fisler, who taught social studies, is accused of engaging in sexual acts with the student in her vehicle and classroom. Investigators found text messages and nude photographs exchanged between the two, which prosecutors say confirm the unlawful nature of their relationship. She has been charged with six counts of first-degree sexual assault of a minor, one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of second-degree official misconduct.
Fisler denied the allegations during a March 19 interview with authorities. She is no longer employed as a teacher in the Washington Township school district or elsewhere. Court records did not list an attorney for Fisler as of Thursday afternoon, and she remains jailed pending further court hearings.
