A suspect has been charged in the 1990 'Lovers’ Lane' cold case murders of Cheryl Henry, 22, and Andy Atkinson, 21, in Houston. Floyd William Parrott, 64, was arrested in Lincoln, Nebraska, and faces capital murder charges. The couple was found dead on August 23, 1990, after a security guard discovered their vehicle parked for an extended period. Henry was sexually assaulted and stabbed, while Atkinson was found tied to a tree with severe neck injuries.
The case remained unsolved for decades despite efforts by multiple agencies, including the FBI. Investigators linked Parrott to the crime after reviewing a previously submitted tip and matching DNA from a 1996 sexual assault case to evidence from Henry’s autopsy. Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare praised the relentless efforts of prosecutors, Houston Police Department (HPD), and FBI in solving one of the city’s 'most haunting and infamous' cold cases.
The couple was last seen the night before their deaths at Bayou Mama's nightclub in Houston. Henry’s body was found about 100 yards from Atkinson’s, with both victims suffering fatal throat wounds. The case drew national attention and remained a focal point for law enforcement and the victims' families for over three decades.
