A small explosive device was discovered outside an apartment building in White Plains, New York, early Monday morning, prompting a police investigation and the questioning of two individuals. Residents reported hearing loud booms around 4:30 a.m., initially thought to be a transformer explosion. Police later found the device near the building's door just after 6 a.m. No injuries or property damage were reported, and authorities confirmed there was no ongoing threat to public safety.
The White Plains Police Department, along with the FBI and ATF, responded to the scene. Officials stated the device was not set up for remote detonation. Two individuals were identified as "people of interest" and were taken into custody for questioning. Neighbor Yulissa Severino reported hearing similar loud noises in recent weeks, describing the sounds as alarming. The building's owner could not be immediately reached for comment.
