Police are searching for four men accused of carjacking a 51-year-old man in New York City's East Village early Monday, March 23. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. outside 50 Second Ave., where the victim was sitting in his vehicle when the suspects approached and demanded a ride. When he refused, one of the men brandished a gun and forced him out of the car, which was later found abandoned in Newark, New Jersey.
Suspect Descriptions and Investigation
Authorities describe three of the suspects as wearing black sweatshirts, dark pants, and black sneakers. The fourth suspect was dressed in a light-colored sweatshirt, a black jacket, and carrying a backpack. Police released surveillance footage showing the group entering a bodega, all wearing black hooded sweatshirts and face masks. The victim, who was not injured, was driving a Toyota Highlander with TLC plates, indicating it was used for rideshare services like Uber or Lyft.
