Lindsey Buckingham, the 76-year-old former guitarist and vocalist of Fleetwood Mac, was attacked by a woman in Santa Monica on Wednesday morning. The woman, known to Buckingham and with a history of stalking him, threw an unknown substance at him as he entered a building for an appointment. Buckingham was unharmed, and police sources indicate an arrest is expected soon.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and Santa Monica Police are investigating the incident. The suspect allegedly discovered the time and location of Buckingham’s appointment and waited for him. In December 2024, Buckingham obtained a restraining order against Michelle Dick, requiring her to stay at least 100 yards away from him, his wife, and son, and prohibiting any contact.
Buckingham has faced personal and professional challenges in recent years, including a 2018 split from Fleetwood Mac, a 2019 heart attack that required triple bypass surgery, and vocal cord damage from a breathing tube. He has since focused on recovery and new musical projects, including a forthcoming solo album and a Fleetwood Mac documentary.
Representatives for Buckingham have not commented on the incident.
