Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, made his comeback to live performances in Los Angeles on Wednesday, headlining a sold-out show at SoFi Stadium. The two-hour concert featured guest appearances by Don Toliver and his 12-year-old daughter, North, who performed alongside him. The event marked Ye's first full live performance in Los Angeles since 2021 and came two months after his public apology for antisemitic remarks, which he attributed to injuries sustained in a 2002 car crash.
Ye performed a mix of new songs from his latest album, Bully, and classics like Can't Tell Me Nothing and Mercy. The show included technical difficulties, with Ye restarting his song Good Life multiple times due to unsatisfactory lighting. He reportedly quipped, 'Is this like an SNL skit or something?' when his requests were not met.
The concert took place atop an enormous dome set up on the stadium floor, with projections creating the illusion of Ye performing atop a spinning globe. No photographers were allowed to cover the event, according to the LA Times.
Ye has been open about his struggles with mental health, previously detailing in a Wall Street Journal advertisement how his bipolar disorder led to his past behavior. The rapper concluded his set with Runaway, a 2010 track that warns against falling in love with him.
