Fisherman rescues great white shark from fishing line

A 20-year-old fisherman, Kevin Phan, leaped into the ocean near Hermosa Beach, California, to free a great white shark entangled in his fishing line. The incident, captured on video, showed Phan wrestling the thrashing shark before cutting the line and guiding it back into deeper waters. Witnesses reported the shark was alive but struggling, and Phan suffered minor cuts and scrapes during the rescue. Other fishermen at the pier expressed concerns about increased shark sightings, with some considering avoiding the area. Studies by California State University at Long Beach indicate juvenile great whites generally pose low risks to humans but often gather near shore to feed on small fish.
