President Donald Trump condemned the Biden administration for releasing an illegal immigrant now charged in the fatal hammer attack of a Florida mother. Rolbert Joachim, 40, a Haitian national, is accused of bludgeoning the woman to death outside a Fort Myers gas station on April 3. Trump blamed Biden's immigration policies for the incident, calling the suspect an "Illegal Alien Criminal" released under the administration's policies.
Joachim entered the U.S. in August 2022 and was released into the country by the Biden administration, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). A federal judge later ordered his removal, but he was granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS), which expired in 2024. Trump has criticized TPS as a "massively abused and fraudulent" program.
The suspect was charged with second-degree murder and criminal damage to property. Trump shared a graphic video of the attack on Truth Social, warning viewers of its violent content. He also criticized "radical liberal district court judges" for blocking efforts to end TPS.
The victim, a mother of two, reportedly worked at the convenience store where the attack occurred. The incident has reignited debates over immigration enforcement and border policies.
