Chris Paul posted a meme on Instagram following the Los Angeles Clippers' 126-121 play-in loss to the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night. The meme, which reads 'stopped by my biggest hater’s funeral,' quickly spread online.
Paul, a future Hall of Famer, was released by the Clippers in December after a tumultuous second stint with the team. The 40-year-old guard had clashed with teammates, coaches, and executives, including head coach Tyronn Lue, who reportedly wasn't on speaking terms with Paul by the end of his tenure.
The Clippers struggled early in the season, starting 6-21 before turning things around to finish 42-40. Paul, who retired in February, played 16 games for the Clippers this season but never started. He was traded to the Toronto Raptors in February as part of a three-team deal but never suited up for the Raptors.
Paul's post echoes a similar meme used by Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid in 2022 after the team traded Ben Simmons.
