Actor Patrick Muldoon, best known for his roles in Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place, has died at the age of 57. His manager confirmed the news to Variety, with Deadline reporting that Muldoon suffered a heart attack at his Beverly Hills home on Sunday. Paramedics were unable to revive him after he was found unconscious in the bathroom by his girlfriend, Miriam Rothbart.
Muldoon’s sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, shared details of the incident with TMZ, stating that the actor had been drinking coffee with Rothbart before taking a shower. When he did not emerge, Rothbart found him unresponsive on the bathroom floor.
Born in San Pedro, California, Muldoon began his acting career while attending the University of Southern California, where he played football for the Trojans. His early roles included appearances on Who’s the Boss? and Saved by the Bell. He rose to prominence as Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives (1992–1995, 2011–2012) and later starred as Richard Hart on Melrose Place (1994–1997).
In addition to acting, Muldoon was a producer and musician, serving as the lead singer and guitarist for the band The Sleeping Masses. His film credits include Starship Troopers (1997) and Dirty Hands, a thriller set for release later this year. He also worked as an executive producer on several films, including The Tribes of Palos Verdes and Kockroach, which stars Chris Hemsworth and Taron Egerton.
Muldoon’s final Instagram post, shared the day before his death, expressed excitement about an upcoming project. His estimated net worth was reported to be around $1.5 million as of 2024.
