FBI Investigates Woman's Death After Fall From Carnival Cruise Balcony

A woman died Monday after falling from her balcony aboard the Carnival Firenze cruise ship near Catalina Island, California. The incident occurred while the ship was sailing off the Southern California coast, and the woman landed on a lower deck. Her family, who were traveling with her, alerted the crew. The woman’s identity has not been released. Carnival Cruise Line confirmed the incident in a statement, saying the family was able to depart the ship and return home. The company added that law enforcement, including the FBI, boarded the vessel while it was docked at Catalina Island to collect information, a process described as customary. The FBI confirmed it is investigating the death, though the cause remains unclear. This incident follows a previous case where a nurse sued Carnival Corp. after allegedly being served 14 drinks before falling and sustaining injuries, resulting in a $300,000 verdict. Additionally, a crewmember fell overboard from a Norwegian Breakaway cruise liner near Cape Cod, Massachusetts, on Sunday, and a two-year-old suffered injuries after falling on a cruise ship in Madeira five days prior.
