Gift Oladele, 24, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for raping a 19-year-old woman in Wrexham, Wales, in September 2025. The attack occurred after Oladele befriended the victim and her friend outside a takeaway before dragging her into an isolated area. He threatened her not to report the assault and fled the scene. Oladele was arrested the following day at his cousin's home in Wrexham.
During the trial at Mold Crown Court in March, Oladele denied the charges, claiming the victim had consented. However, a jury found him guilty of rape and sexual assault. At Caernarfon Crown Court, Judge Simon Mills described Oladele's behavior in court as displaying 'an extraordinary level of arrogance and entitlement.' The judge also noted that Oladele showed 'absolutely no remorse' and labeled him a 'dangerous offender.'
Oladele was already on bail for a separate rape allegation in Manchester in November 2024, which is still under consideration. He had previously been jailed in 2022 for a sexually motivated attack and had successfully fought deportation to Nigeria on human rights grounds. The court also imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a restraining order to protect the victim for life.
The victim, now 19, testified that she suffers from nightmares and is 'petrified' that Oladele will track her down. She described the attack as terrifying and said she did what she thought was necessary to survive. Oladele's mobile phone, which he attempted to hide from police, contained searches related to sexual attacks, indicating his 'fascination with forced sexual abuse.'
