A 12-year-old girl in Florida is facing felony charges after allegedly sending a threatening message about shooting up her elementary school. The girl, who used a classmate’s account to send the message, was charged with making written or electronic threats to kill and unlawful use of a two-way communications device, according to the Volusia Sheriff's Office.
The threat was reported over the weekend, with detectives confirming it was sent to a teacher at Louise S. McInnis Elementary School. The message included a threat to 'shoot up' the school on the last day of class. Authorities determined the message was sent by the girl, who had access to her ex-boyfriend’s login information.
The sheriff's office posted a video of the arrest on Facebook, which has garnered over one million views. In the video, deputies are seen leading the handcuffed girl, who has green hair and a septum piercing, from a patrol car to jail. She was then shackled and placed in a jail cell. The elementary school did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
