Federal authorities announced Tuesday that a monthlong nationwide operation led to the rescue of more than 200 child victims and the arrest of over 350 child sexual abuse offenders. Operation Iron Pursuit, conducted between April 1 and April 30, involved all 56 FBI field offices and U.S. Attorneys’ offices nationwide. The coordinated effort aimed to identify victims of sex abuse and apprehend predators.
One notable case involved a 10-year-old from Utah who was allegedly taken by his transgender parent to Cuba under the pretense of a camping trip. The child was instead flown from Canada to Mexico and then to Cuba. The FBI stated that the child’s biological father, Rose Inessa-Ethington, and his partner, Blue Inessa-Ethington, were arrested and charged with International Parental Kidnapping. The child was reunited with his mother after concerns arose that the transgender parent intended to subject the child to gender reassignment surgery.
The operation underscores expanded efforts in the fight against the sexual exploitation of minors. FBI Director Kash Patel and acting Attorney General Todd Blanche highlighted the significance of the operation during a press conference at the Justice Department.
Former Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf discussed the operation on 'The Faulkner Focus,' emphasizing the importance of such efforts amid broader debates over law enforcement priorities. The operation’s success has been widely acknowledged, though some outlets have focused on specific cases, such as the Utah incident, to highlight broader societal or legal issues.
