White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the birth of her second child, a daughter named Viviana, on May 1. The baby, nicknamed 'Vivi,' is described as 'perfect and healthy,' and her older brother, Niko, is adjusting well to the new addition. Leavitt shared the news on social media, expressing gratitude for the support she received during her pregnancy. 'God is Good,' she wrote in her post.
Leavitt, 28, is on maternity leave from her role in the Trump administration. The White House has opted not to appoint a formal replacement during her absence, instead utilizing a 'tag-team' approach for press briefings. Secretary of State Marco Rubio led the first briefing in her stead, acknowledging the chaotic nature of the process. Other administration officials, including the Vice President and possibly the President himself, may also rotate in to handle media duties.
Leavitt had initially planned to begin her maternity leave before the White House Correspondents' Dinner but postponed it following a shooting at the event. She had previously announced her pregnancy in December, calling the baby the 'best Christmas gift.'
