Deal Struck for DC Golf Course Renovations
The Trump administration has finalized a deal to renovate and restore three public golf courses in Washington, D.C., ensuring they remain open, accessible, and affordable for residents. The National Park Service (NPS) announced the partnership with the National Links Trust (NLT), Fazio Design, First Tee of Greater Washington, D.C., Western Golf Association, and the Evans Scholars Foundation to begin immediate renovations at East Potomac Golf Links, Langston Golf Course, and Rock Creek Park Golf. The NPS aims to transform these courses into premier public facilities while maintaining affordability.
Continued Management and Past Disputes
The NLT, which has operated the courses since 2020, will continue managing them under the new agreement. The deal follows a dispute over the courses' future, including a federal judge's intervention to halt potential closures for construction. Environmental concerns, such as contaminated soil at East Potomac, have also been raised, with the judge demanding greater transparency from the administration.
