Republican U.S. Rep. Max Miller of Ohio has filed a defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, and her legal team, alleging they spread false claims of domestic abuse to harm his reputation. The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Cleveland, seeks damages exceeding $25,000, citing reputational and financial harm from accusations published in outlets like The Daily Mail and the New York Post.
Miller, a two-term congressman and ally of former President Donald Trump, denies the allegations, calling them part of a custody dispute. His ex-wife, the daughter of Sen. Bernie Moreno, has not publicly responded to the lawsuit. House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., declined to comment on the matter, stating it was a personal issue for Miller to resolve.
The legal battle escalates a feud that began after Miller and Moreno divorced in June 2024. Miller previously accused Sen. Moreno of funding his daughter's 'malicious campaign' against him, while Moreno's legal team has not commented on the defamation suit.
