Idaho Republicans Secure Primary Wins

Sen. Jim Risch, R-Idaho, won the Republican primary for a fourth Senate term, defeating three challengers. The 83-year-old incumbent, endorsed by President Donald Trump, chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and has held the seat since 2009. Meanwhile, Gov. Brad Little, R-Idaho, also secured his party's nomination for a third term, defeating seven opponents in the gubernatorial primary. Little, also backed by Trump, ran on deregulation, tax cuts, and school choice. In the Democratic gubernatorial primary, Terri Pickens, a small business owner, emerged victorious but faces an uphill battle in the general election. Idaho's Republican-leaning electorate has not elected a Democratic governor in 36 years. The state's primary also included races for three congressional seats, with all Republican incumbents advancing past their primary challengers.
