Polls across California are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on June 2, 2026, for the state's primary election. Voters can cast ballots in person at designated polling places or submit mail-in ballots, which must be postmarked by June 2 and received by the county elections division no later than June 9. The Kern County Elections Division recommends obtaining a manual postmark at a U.S. post office to ensure timely delivery.
Same-day voter registration is available for eligible citizens who need to register or re-register within 14 days of the election. This process can be completed at county elections offices, polling places, or vote centers. Voters must provide a driver’s license, state ID, or the last four digits of their Social Security number. Ballots submitted through same-day registration will be counted once the registration is verified.
Voters can track their ballots using Ballottrax on the California Secretary of State’s website. Initial results from polling places are expected after 9 p.m. on Election Day, with counting continuing late into the night and resuming the following morning if necessary. Official results will be certified by the secretary of state on July 10.
