Ford Motor is recalling nearly 420,000 vehicles due to a seat belt issue that may increase the risk of injury in a crash. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that certain 2018-2022 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models have seat belts that may lock inadvertently, preventing them from retracting or extending. Ford confirmed one injury related to the defect and will notify affected owners by mail starting June 8. Dealers will inspect and replace seat belt retractors at no cost. The recall number is 26S34.
Separately, Ford issued a "Do Not Drive" warning for 4,653 Ford Maverick and Bronco Sport vehicles due to improperly assembled suspension systems. The front lower control arm ball joints may have been incorrectly installed, risking detachment from the front wheel knuckle. The recall affects 2021-2026 Bronco Sport and 2022-2026 Maverick models. Owners are advised not to drive these vehicles until repairs are completed. Dealers will inspect and repair the defective parts for free. The recall number is 26S36.
