President Donald Trump announced a rally in Washington, D.C., on June 24 to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary. The event will feature speeches, patriotic music, and performances by country singer Lee Greenwood and classical crossover artist Christopher Macchio. Military bands, including the Army Band and U.S. Marine Band, will also perform.
Trump revealed the lineup after several artists, including Poison, Morris Day, Young MC, the Commodores, and Martina McBride, withdrew from the originally planned concert. The artists cited concerns over the event’s political ties, claiming they were initially led to believe it was nonpartisan. Trump dismissed the need for high-profile performers, stating the rally would feature 'the greatest music ever played' and 'a few speakers.'
Greenwood will introduce Trump with 'God Bless the U.S.A.,' while Macchio will perform classical and patriotic pieces. Trump praised Macchio’s voice, comparing it to Luciano Pavarotti’s. The event is billed as 'the Greatest Rally, EVER,' with Trump emphasizing its significance and scale.
